Attending Tehran Book Fair a Great Achievement for Oman

According to the Cinemadrame News Agency, quoting the press headquarters of the Tehran International Book Fair, Mohammed Obaid Al-Maskari, the representative of the Omani Ministry of Culture at the fair, highlighted the friendly and close relations between the people of Iran and Oman. He stated: “For its eighth consecutive year, the Omani Ministry of Culture participated in the 35th Tehran International Book Fair with over 168 titles covering various subjects, including Omani religious, historical, and cultural sciences. The 35th edition was well-organized, and the Iranian people warmly welcomed the Omani pavilion, engaging in direct conversations with representatives from the Omani Ministry of Culture and asking questions about Oman and the books on display.”

He added that participation in the Tehran Book Fair is a significant cultural achievement for various countries, including Oman. “The Omani Ministry of Culture has participated in over 200 international book fairs, and each year, a delegation of representatives from the Omani Ministry of Culture is sent to the Tehran International Book Fair. This helps them gain experience and establish friendly relations with the Iranian people. In my opinion, the Book Fair serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between Oman and Iran, an opportunity that cultural officials from both countries should seize to work more on translating various books into both nations’ languages.”

The representative of the Omani Ministry of Culture emphasized that information dissemination is a core principle of cultural development, and adhering to this principle at the Book Fair would further boost various sections, including the international section. He stressed: “Today, the importance and status of information dissemination in the age of communication are evident to all. In an era where information leads in all fields, this principle should be given even greater attention in cultural events, especially book fairs. The efforts and hard work of cultural officials in organizing the Book Fair more splendidly must be seen. Therefore, reflecting the actions, activities, and various works undertaken is crucial and should be communicated daily to representatives of participating countries through a cohesive program including publications like Ketabina, virtual and news channels, or daily news.”

Al-Maskari continued: “One of the fundamental points in the international section of the Book Fair is timely information dissemination. If observed, this will lead to greater prosperity in this section. If news coverage of the fair is such that we are informed of various programs a day in advance, we can operate better in cultural exchanges. Therefore, in addition to publishing books and brochures, daily news related to various ceremonies, meetings, and sessions at the Book Fair should be communicated to foreign publishers and international guests.”

He also highlighted the necessity of utilizing virtual spaces for better information dissemination, saying: “Today, virtual spaces encompass various products such as weekly and monthly bulletins; electronic publications, news podcasts, visual magazines, various news videos and clips, photo titles, infographics, motion graphics, banner designs, and more. By utilizing these facilities during the 11-day Tehran Book Fair, we can contribute to the further prosperity of various sections of the Book Fair, including the international section.”
